Title : LARGE POODLE LLOYD OF SHELTON

Reference: 1013

Probably one of the best models produced in the 19th century by the Staffordshire potters of a standing poodle carrying a basket of flowers. This large sized example was made at the John and Rebecca Lloyd factory at Shelton in Staffordshire circa 1840. This size of model is extremely rare and is almost 8 inches long.The base is decorated with a thick band of best gold.The modelling and detail of this piece is exceptional as one would expect from one of the master potters of the early Victorian period.FEATURED IN POTTERY MENAGERIE EXHIBITION OF JOHN HOWARD 2008.
