Antique Leeds Creamware pottery basket with cover and stand late 18th century England

Dated: c. 1780 Leeds Yorkshire England

An exceptionally fine and imposing creamware pottery basket and cover with stand all with exquisite reticulated decoration of the highest quality. The basket is impressed LP denoting Leeds Pottery and stands as a lasting testament to their extraordinary skill and technical achievement. Various terms for the basket have been used mainly suggesting a use for chestnuts or satsumas. A similar example is located in the Victoria and Albert Museum London.
