Antique saltglaze stoneware pottery bear jug English mid 18th century

Dated: c. 1750 England

Antique Staffordshire or Nottingham stoneware saltglaze bear jug from the mid 18th century period.
The figure is naively modelled and decorated with shredding representing the fur.The eyes, arms and collar are decorated with enamel brown stripes and patches. The head is removable and can be used as a cup. A fine example of early English pottery now regarded as significant English folk art and of historical social importance.

Dimensions: 8.00 inch wide 9.25 inch high 5.00 inch deep

Current Condition Professional restored chip at inner rim of base and at dogs neck.
