Antique Staffordshire pottery figure of "The Sheep Lost but found" circa 1820

Reference: 1591

Dated: 1820 Staffordshire England

A good decorative appealing figure of shepherd returning home after locating a lost sheep from his flock.
This figure was very popular in the early 19th century as it reflects a spiritual ethos of the time with a warm story to tell as it illustrates the parable from Mathews and Marks Gospels.
This figure is a very fine example with good modelling and strong well applied enamel colours. Several versions of this model were made some with bocage, this particular figure is a rare version without bocage.
