Astbury type early Staffordshire pottery teapot mid 18th century English

Dated: 1745 to 1750 Staffordshire England

Staffordshire pottery "Astbury" glazed red brown-ware globular shaped teapot supported on three paw feet and decorated in cream-colored clay with trailing vines and leaves. This early teapot is an exceptionally rare example, its diminutive size denoting the expense of tea in the early 18th-century period.

Dimensions: 6.50 inch wide 3.00 inch high 4.25 inch deep

Medium: redware lead glaze pottery earthenware clay ceramic

Current Condition Tip of the spout and minor hairline at twig finial on the cover.

Provenance: Retains paper label of Cecil Baring
