English creamware pottery bird whistle antique period circa 1770

Dated: c. 1770 Staffordshire or Yorkshire England

A rare creamware bodied pottery figure of a bird in the form of a whistle. The whistle is a transition piece strongly influenced from saltglaze . The tip of the whistle has a good period "make do" metal repair which adds to the folk appeal of the birds rather perky and appealing character.
