Large 16 inch English pottery tortoiseshell decorated dish probably Thomas Whieldon mid 18th century Staffordshire .

An unusually large size lead glazed creamware bodied "Whieldon" pottery dish decorated with a tortoiseshell glaze and green and ochre carefully applied splodges. The wavy shaped rim is crisply relief molded with a husk pattern. It is unusual to find dishes of this scale and type in such condition.

Dimensions: 16.00 inch wide 3.00 inch high

Medium: pottery earthenware ceramic glaze

Current Condition Good condition with fine and stable hairline at rim.
