Large Pink luster pottery pitcher with several prints, one relating to taxation and slavery Newcastle Pottery early 19th century

Dated: 1820 Newcastle upon Tyne North East England

Pink luster pottery pitcher with transfer images highlighted with enamel colors, the main image a cartoon of a portly gentleman carving a rib of beef with the heading BRITISH SLAVERY ( a reference to taxes). Another print shows the FARMERS ARMS together with the legend GOD SPEED THE PLOUGH. The third image is a poem relating to a publican extolling the virtues of his customers paying up for their drinks. The pitcher is large scale and decorated with bright flowers and colored spots and dashes.
The primary transfer print relating to Slavery has the script inscription "Newcastle Pottery."

Medium: pink luster lustre pottery earthenware ceramic

Current Condition Minor enamels re-touched and slight rubbing to the side of the handle probably resulting from hanging on a Welsh Dresser hook.
