Pair of Staffordshire pottery theatrical characters performed by the actor John Liston.
Dated: c. 1815 to c. 1820 Staffordshire
John Liston was a prominent comedy actor in the early 19th century in England. His most famous roles were of Paul Pry and Lubin Log. These two figures celebarate and commemorate these two characters. The bases have impressed script of famous catch phrases associated with each character and both have the SALT scroll makers mark .
