Sailor model Toby Jug Prattware Staffordshire pottery late 18th century period England

Prattware pottery Toby Jug known as the SAILOR. The well-attired figure has exceptional quality decorations in the Prattware color palette. He is shown seated on a chest with a benign smile holding a beaker and frothing jug of ale. The base of the pitcher is a rocky mound with lapping waves and between his legs is an anchor. This rare Toby is large-sized and with a strong presence. The original design (model 65) is attributed to Ralph Wood of Burslem Staffordshire.
