Staffordshire pottery pitcher commemorating the coronation of King George IV

A fine and very handsome relief molded blue and white pottery pitcher commemorates the Coronation of King George IV in 1821. The pitcher is decorated profusely with fleur de le ,crowns and the Prince of Wales amorial device with the inscription ich dien. The handle is spectacular with its strongly crisply defined rope twist, under the spout is molded a striking leaf or feather. The pitcher is a good size and makes a bold elegant statement with it simple and effective blue decoration on clean white ground.
