An early rare tin glaze charger with a central panel hand painted with the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary,the announcement by the angel Gabriel that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus, the Son of God, marking his Incarnation. The border is painted in blue and white with a profusion of birds, animals , flowers and foliage in a free flowing informal style. The charger has seven ancient rivet repairs adding to the historical aspect of this early piece.
