A good Nottingham brown stoneware salt-glazed Bear Jug and cover, naturalistically modeled, is sitting on his haunches with two separate front legs. The coat is covered with shredded clay (grog), and the bear's head is muzzled. Extra attention is paid to defining the bear's gender, which the potter possibly added as a comical jest.
