A creamware pottery commemorative pitcher, one side shows a half-portrait bust of Nelson flanked by putti representing Fame and Victory. Below the portrait cartouche is the actual plan of attack of the Battle of the Nile in 1798. The birds eye view of the battleĀ  names the British ships and the French ships taken, burnt, sunk, or escaped. The reverseĀ  is decorated with a fine underglaze transfer print of Neptune in his chariotĀ  with the inscription "Britannia Rule the Waves." Inscribed under the spout within a garlanded cartouche the legend "Lord Nelson and the Glorious First of August 1798" with a crocodile lurking below.

Current Condition: Good professional restoration to chip at the rim and base.
