Blue and White large platter Combe Bank Pattern by Hicks and Meigh Staffordshire early 19thc

A fine underglaze blue and white transfer printed platter decorated with a spectacular view of  Radnor House at Combe Bank Estate, Sevenoaks, Kent, England. The Palladian House, by Roger Morris, was built for Col John Campbell and modeled on the Argyll family seat of Inverary. It became, in the early 19th century, the boyhood home of Henry, later Cardinal, Manning, and later William Spottiswoode, the King’s printer. The platter was produced at the Hicks and Meigh Pottery in Broad Street Hanley and is the central and largest form of the "  British Views" series from circa 1820. The platter is in remarkably fine condition and one of the best examples of its type.

Current Condition: very good condition with no restoration.

Provenance: Private collection of a lady in Somerset.
