An English Delftware blue-and-white plate finely decorated with an elegant landscape scene. At the center stands an aristocratic woman, accompanied by a dark-skinned attendant who holds a parasol above her, while a male servant carries the train of her gown, emphasizing social status. The broad, elaborate border is richly ornamented with floral and foliate motifs, enhanced with sgraffito decoration. The reverse is decorated with hatching and cross-hatching, usually associated with the Bristol Delftworks, although Archer suggests a London attribution.
