A rare version of a delftware pottery charger decorated in polychrome with the Temptation in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve face each other, standing on either side of the apple tree. A yellow snake with red scales holds an apple, which he is beguiling offering to Eve, who is pointing to the forbidden fruit. The foliage is sponged decorated, and the scene expands over into the borders of the charger, a most unusual feature on this subject.

Current Condition: Some loss of glaze at rim left unrestored.
