A rare English delftware tile with a hand-painted image of a lioness in manganese, 18th century probably Bristol. The cat is artistically painted, standing amongst some delicate flowers with her back to the viewer. The image possibly inspired by an illustration in the "Ladies Amusement".

Dimensions: 5.25 inches high 5.25 inches long

Current Condition: Restored hairline

Provenance: From the L L Lipski collection, gifted to R.J Charleston (Keeper of Ceramics at the Victoria and Albert Museum London, and then by family descent
