A rare hand-built slipware earthenware watch holder, the piece is modeled with a narrow ledge at the front and decorated with a profusion of applied floral sprigs and impressed motifs. The watch holder is decorated with five sheep and flanked by two "foreigner"  figures, one holding a cup.  This piece, traditionally known as FARMYARDS, was made to house a hunter-type pocket watch with a circular hole at the front and a pocket at the reverse . The front of the watch holder is impressed FISHLEY on the left side and FREMINGTON on the right.A remarkable  and significant example from this Devonshire Pottery.    

Dimensions: 8 inches high 8 inches long

Current Condition: Restored sheeps heads and loss of glaze at the base rim.
