An early London delftware "MERRY MAN" plate inscribed in red with the verse "(2)  Let him do what he Can" is within a  blue leaf border with green concentric circles. Merry Man plates are rare, especially decorated in polychrome colors. The plate is in exceptionally good condition.

Diameter: 8.75 inches

Current Condition: No restoration with only minor chipping at rim

Provenance: Retains a paper label for Robert Fisher Packing and Shipping Ltd and the typed name of SCHIFFER relating to the Philadelphia dealership USA,
