This is a very rare stoneware saltglaze teapot with overall quality enamel decoration. It shows a portrait along with the title "Fred.Prussia Rex." The reverse of the teapot depicts the coat of arms of the King with the Latin motto "Semper Sublimis." The cover is decorated with two panels of flowers and has a flower-head finial. The teapot was made to commemorate the alliance with Britain and Prussia, probably at the end of the Seven Years' War.

Dimensions: 4.5 inches high, 7.5 inches wide, 4.75 inches long

Current Condition: Excellent restoration to lid and break in handle.

Literature: Page 163 Edwards and Hampson work titled White Salt-glazed STONEWARE of the British Isles makes reference to a similarly themed teapot which was destined for the American market.
