This rare tea bowl and deep-sided saucer is decorated with an underglaze blue and white transfer print in the 'Unity' oval cartouche 'Chinoiserie Palm' pattern and commemorates the Newquay Unity Fishing Company which was one of many fishing concerns in Cornwall. Both pieces are in remarkably fine condition. The Unity Pattern date to the early period of the Swansea pottery Cambrian period. The underside has two underglaze blue dots, probably a worker's mark. A similar tea bowl and saucer are held in the Swansea Museum's Collection. NOTE: The 'Unity' cellars (premises for storing and processing pilchards) were situated at the bottom of Gower Lane, Newquay Cornwall, England.

Both pieces are in remarkably fine condition.
