Set of six antique green glaze pottery plates from the famous Herculaneum Pottery in Liverpool. The plates have a wonderful green glaze over a well defined relief molded pattern of leaves. There is a slight variation in the green glazes which adds to the individuality of this set which is in very clean and crisp condition. All six plates are impressed with the mark HERCULANEUM2. It is thought that this marks (2)is an internal reference to the Trade Size and would determine the wages of the potter. Re;Hyland page 228 "The Herculaneum Pottery, Liverpool's forgotten glory.
