The garniture of three vases with loop handles vases comprise a large central piece six a half inches high with two smaller versions at five and a half inches. They are decorated in pink lustre , each feature two underglaze black and white prints of a chariot with a seated figure holding a banner inscribed LOUIS XV111 and a cornucopia of plenty, two cherubs are preparing to pull the chariot. The base of the image with the legend, in capitals, PEACE. NOTE: Louis XVIII signed the Treaty of Paris on May 30, 1814. Louis XVIII’s restoration to the throne in 1814 was effected largely through the support of Napoleon’s former foreign minister, Talleyrand, who convinced the victorious Allied Powers of the desirability of a Bourbon Restoration following Napoleons defeat.
