This rare Staffordshire pottery pearlware glazed bocage type figure shows Doctor Syntax seated on a grey horse. The yellow plaque on the base in inscribed " DR. SYNTAX STOPPED BY HIGHWAY MEN". The figure is well decorated in colour enamels and attributed to the Patriot Group circa 1820.

Dimensions: 8.5 inches high

Current Condition: Missing highwayman, restored minor bocage and re-touched enamels and horses tail.

Provenance: Retains the label of Manheims. Sotheby's London. Private Collection London
